Repro caps can be had for about $300 US each; Magnacore wires for about $110 or so (at least for a 308).

Ron,

I am thinking of buying them off EBay auctions and various sources that I come across. Since you are in the states, you may want to try Algar Ferrari (http://www.algarferrari.com) near Philly as I have heard good things about them from fellow F-chatters.

Peter, where can you get them cheap?

I have 33000 miles on the original wires on my 87 Mondial and it is in now for timing belt and other work. When we talked the mechanic suggested that I do not replace until I begin to have noticeable problems unless he finds specific conductivity problems while doing the service.

I am curious, what are the normal life expectancies for the following Mondial parts?

- spark plug wires
- distributor caps

I suppose the various engine parts can keep well for long periods under proper conditions.

I am thinking of buying some while they are cheap and keep them in stock, because during my last major service, the damn service shop charged me over US$800 for 8 spark plug wires and over US$1500 for 2 distributor caps. If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have paid them that kind of dough.
