Hey there GA guys, what did you do on your rad...just simple boil out or recore with more efficient cooling core? It has been hot here in NY and it is time for my cooling system to be rehabilitated after I blew a bottom pipe hose ....quickly replced them both but need to address the real problem...running hot in traffic....anyone know step-by-step on jumping the fans so they both blow? --tryingt o keep cool...I guess I will switch to the 348 for august...never overheats ( but ...you know I love my QV the best!) |

Hey Magoo, I did forget to mention my new 1.1 bar radiator cap too! So when I get the water wetter in, it should be as sound as a pound! I get to pick it up today. I am so excited! I'll keep everyone posted. Heath, whats up buddy? Yeah man it has been hot as hell, or just rainy and humid. I was going to take the car to Duetschland Automotive but I was recommended to try this place called Performance Imports in Doraville off P'tree Industrial. They do great work, but have deplorable customer service (they NEVER gave me a callback for status, I had to call 10 times to get status). Be prepared, it pissed me off to no end, but they did do excellent work on my car. Lemme know if you want the number. |

Mitchel, You might want to consider a new rad. cap also at this point. I still think it may not be functioning properly. Remember I'm the guy who looks for the little problems before the big ones. I don't see that listed as being replaced. |

Hi everyone, to catch you all up: I replaced and rebuilt almost the entire cooling system on my 84 308 QV to "try" and prep it for Atlanta summer weather, as well as source the reason why the car ran a TAD warm after a spirited drive. I did the radiator, water pump, thermostat, radiator fan switch, a couple a gaskets and a couple a hoses. It ran perfectly, except it still ended up at the 220 mark after a hard run. I had originally thought that the temp was just too high and unacceptable. Well, several of you fellow 308 owners have told me that even at 220, the car is perfectly alright running at that temp. The car has been in the shop, and it got a new temp sending unit, a new rear motor mount, a new check valve, my beloved test pipe and a detail. When it gets home, I will be instilling some Water Wetter. I am DYING to get it back tomorrow after work. My mechanic said it is running even better than before now. I'll let you guys know what happens..... -Mitch |
