SORRY Herbert,
I did not mean that this way...
Thanks for that post though.

Funny story. A frined of mine borrowed my Testarossa in germany for a Satruday night. He went to the night club in it to pick up girls. (that was back when I was young...) Anyway, he got so annoyed that all girls he talked to immediately asked what he was doing to check out if he had enough $$$ to keep them around. To one he answered "I am an auto mechanic". She turned on her heals and walked off. Little gold digger. He forgot about her and late that night went back out to drive home and the girl was standing there outside. He got into the Ferrari and she walked over: "but you said you are a mechanic...?" His answer: "yes, I own some of the most prestigous mechanic places in town.." and he drove off.

Love to do that until today when we are in bars and you talk to girls and they first ask what you do. "I am an auto mechanic". Never had one though that was standing outside watching me get in my car...

Dan;
first yes I did get your fax and thanks a million. This will do the trick. I verified all aprts I need with the manulas and repair manual I send out to you today! YOu should have that any day.

The sticky stuff will eventually be all over your car. door handles, ceenter console the steering column plastic etc. I had that very bad with mine.

The trick is, just take the part of the car, hold it under warm water and use a scrubby sponge and heavy bathroom cleaner and just brush it of, scrub like you never scrubbed before... it will come right off. I am wondering if it would be possible to spray paint these pieces afterwards. Some have a light discoloration, after that but looks better and will solve having dirty hands all the time. I had it bad around the key hole so when you turn the key you would get that •••• under your fingernail...always look like a automechanic, not the owner.

Try that. It will work!

Dan,

If you're talking about the stick/gooey stuff around the AC vents (face), then I've got the same problem. Everyone told me that it's due to a chemical reaction from a cleaner the previous owner used. I was told the only way to fix it is...... buy new ones :-(

I'll suggest "Goo Gone", not any other "goof off" stuff. Goo Gone is citrus based and isn't as harsh as some of the others in it's family, use it with some elbow grease and a rag or q-tips.

I have a tacky substance on my AC control panel face. Does anyone have a good tip as to how to clean it off? Are there any cleaners that you can recommend?

Thanks.

Dan
