I pulled the two wires off the bottom of the coolant tank and you were dead on, the idle increases and the light came on. I suppose that means this sensor is bad and needs to be replaced? Please let me know and where the best place to get it. Thanks again ........ Gary |

Herbert, Thanks for the insight. I will pull the wires off and see if that works. In addition I will try Davids idea. Thanks again, hopefully this will do it ...Gary |

I read your question wrong. If you jump the wires together you will get the condition you described. With the wires open you should get the light and fast idle. |

If your car has a two wire switch in the bottom of the coolant tank, remove the wires and jump them together and see what happens. |

Thanks David, where is this auxilary air valve located and is it associated with the yellow light? Thanks again for the info. .......... Gary |

Cold idle is usually triggered by the auxilary air valve on Bosch FI cars. Yours may be stuck in the closed position. I would guess you could check it on cold start by pinching the hose on either side of it and see if the idle drops. If not, remove it, put it in the refrigerator, and see if it opens up. If not, you need a new one. If it is working, it will be open when cold, then the electrical current to it will cause it to slowly close after the engine is started. I've replace these on a number of cars over the years. Pretty simple. |

Recently I had all three sensors, including the tachymetric sensor, replaced because my 83 308QV was backfiring and not starting properly. After they were replaced the car starts fine but the "do not go fast" yellow light and the high idle do not work. Did we do something wrong? What turns this light on and what triggers the high idle? Thanks .......... Gary |
