Agree with Mitchell....sounds like the oil pressure port seal leaking...it's fairly common for them to weep after the miles you mention...sometimes sooner...Boxers also....seems very few ever recieved a 'real' 1500-2500 Mile Service at which time the heads were supposed to have recieved a retorque & valve adjustment. Most dealers new it was something they could get away with faking and no one would know till much later.

Can you replace the headgasket on a TR with the engine in place or does it need to be dropped? |

Oil leaking out the gasket can mean several things, but you should at least try to retorque the heads. Then, if you still leak and lose compression, or see coolant in the oil, then you should definitely do a head gasket replacement |

I HAVE 1987 TR LEAKING OIL FROM DRIVER SIDE REAR, HEAD GASKET.SHOULD I TRY TO RETORQUE CYLINDER HEAD OR REPLACE GASKET. WHAT CAUSE OIL LEAK? I HERD THAT THE BLOCK HAS LINERS SO COULD A LINER BE OFF CAUSING OIL LEAK,MILES ON CAR 25,0000 |
