Does anyone know what the current draw and air flow of the stock fans are? And where could I find this info? Thanks

SPAL makes great cooling fans. Ferrari used them on several models and they have OEM style mounting ears. You can buy them at Racer Parts Wholesale. Good luck.

One problem with Hayden fans is that you probably will have to fabricate some sort of mounting. Thus if you are lazy like me, the QV fan is the best solution, as it is just a simple replacement.

I've seen the Hayden fans on ebay. I think you can get 2 12" fans for $65 or so. But I was looking at the black magic fans by Flex-a-lite. I have to measure to be sure it fits first. It might be a bit overkill, because they move 2800cfm of air. Or is there really such thing as overkill when it comes to the cooling system?

IMHO the Hayden fans are nicer than the QV fans. Plus they move more are. I have the CFM ratings on my Hayden fans box. It was the first thing I did to my 78' 308 when I got it. I think they are $70-$80 each for 12 inch fans. Be careful when wire them up. If you wired them backwards they will pull not push and vice versa.

A buddy of mine w. an 83 euro qv took his fan out and went to a local auto store. he found a fan that fit (i think it was for a new VW) and put it on. Although I dont know what the CFM is he said that it moves significantly more air. No facts here, just another thought.

The QV motors include the (better) fan blades. What's interesting is that replacement Lucas motors are ~$600, where the superior QV motors are $200.

Mark- When you say cooler, how cool do you mean? At what temp outside? Thanks

Hans, Do the replacement QV fans include both the motor and the blades, or just the fan blades?

I run 2 Hayden 12" fans on my 82 308, runs cooler now than it did with the OEM Lucas setup

I found a guy that can make custom designed dual fans with a shroud that moves 2000 cfm air for $400, I might just go with that. Unless anyone knows of cheaper alternatives?

Randall: If you have an older 308, you probably have Lucas fans. Not great air flow. If so, you can upgrade directly to the later 'QV' type fans - they're a bolt in replacement. Big improvement.

If you already have the later fans, about the only upgrade would be a modern Hayden fan, but these require some fabrication to work.

Does anyone know the rated CFM of air flow with factory fans? I have a 308 that doesn't seem to like the hot weather here in Hawaii, so I'm looking at more air flow or a bigger radiator.

I see lots of guys replacing stock fans with aftermarket ones. I will soon be pulling the fans out of my TR so I can redo the rads. If my fans check out okay, I'll re-use them. But if not, what have some of you other TR owners out there done, what brands? Did you have to fabricate anything? Did you have to splice on the factory wire connector? Lastly, what about the temp. control, were there any changes to that system?
