Get out the Sawsall! No seriously, take off wheel and remove inner fender. You may have access through there.

I have located the compressor on my 1984 GTSi, however it is near the lower portion of the radiator and i cant access it. Is this normal? It does not appear to have any screws on the top. I tried taking out the passenger side headlight assembly, still no luck. I cant go in through the front grill either. Any suggestions?

Did you know that Fruit Loops are one of the most nutritious cereals available? Unbelieveable but true.

Tha hell is a gay horn anyway? Herbert made me laugh so hard that I launched Froot Loops over my monitor, keyboard, mouse, desk and my spreadsheet for today. Thanks for the hefty chuckle!!

Since we're off on a slight tangent, I'll try my horn problem...
I believe I have a part to the horn (located in the steering wheel) that is either missing or broken. The last owner wrapped a piece of candy wrapper (M&m-peanuts...gotta give him credit) around the wire with a metal disc around it. Can anyone tell me how these parts should be connected or glued?

Depends what sort of horn you are blowing.

I heard that a gay horn blows and plays tunes, whereas the straight horn just makes a sound.

I think out of all of the responses, Bret's and Herbert's are the best J.

The compressor on the 308 is found on the passenger side next to the radiator.

My 308 has a gay horn, I kind of like it. Come to think about it I have been watching that interior decorating show a lot lately...

My old '81 308 had a very weak horn. I pulled the cover off the compressor and lifted out the "rotor". I believe there are 3 (or 4) tuype of "blades" that you can pull off of it. Reverse them all so you have fresh new edges pointing outwards and lightly oil the edges and the inside of the housing. Reassemble. It should be much louder!

I did by a new one ( the hole set with horns and hoses) for 120 fim = $ 15, it was the same manufacturer, I beliwe no others make this stuff. The horns was ok, so I kept the original ones to be sure the sound would be the same.

When you guys say a new one for $15 dollars do you mean the compressor? That sounds cheap.

I had the same problem. I pulled the compressor and it was full of rusty water. One trip to the autoparts store and $15 later it was better than new

I had the same thing with my compressor, oil helps for a moment but for long, a new one you can get for 15$ , sounds nice and fast.

Take the three screws off and add the oil to the gears. That is usually the problem area.

Not a big problem but my horn isn't working right. When I first start the car it works fine but after about 10 min the horn gets very week then a few minits later it does not work at all. I looked for a place to add oil but I can't find the place on the horn compressor to add it. Just 3 screws on top and no hole. I am not sure this would help but it seemed like the first place to start. Any suggestions?
