William, Whack the solenoid with a steel hammer. Not like your mad at it, just like it's a PITA and you want it to pay attention. The vibration of metal to metal might help unstick it. You can spin the starter hundreds of times without any ill effects as long as the gear & starter teeth aren't grinding against each other. If you had another person, whacking & spinning at the same time might help. It could be shot, but that is very rare in these late model Ferrari's, I think it's just stuck. After the show you might want to have it pulled out, contacts inside the solenoid cleaned, new brushes and lube the Bendix Drive. Heck the Bendix Drive is just a big magnet & spring should be quickly and cheaply dealt with..

Thanks, JRV, nice shop you have on your bio. I spoke to a friend who is also a mechanic & he told me the same thing. How many times can I try starting it without screwing the starter or draining the new battery ? My friend told me to wack the motor a few times & I wacked it with a rubber mallet but nothing yet. Gonna try again tommorow. Cavallino starts Weds so i have to get her running ASAP, thanks again

Actually you're makin progress, yea I know sometimes it doesn't feel like it.

The original clicking noise was due to voltage lower than neccesary for solenoid activation. Now the you have juice, the spinning noise is the starter working, but the "bendix drive gear" is failing to accuate. That means that the Bendix Drive is Failing or Stuck. I would try starting the engine a number of times to try and unstick the Bendix Drive, making sure to let the starter stop spinning before retrying. You might get lucky and get the starter to revive.
