I have both, but I don't consider one neccesarily "best". Load tests should be very brief as they heat up the tool and the Alternator. The Tool I use by far the most is a VERY Old Snap-On two wire Clip On Alt Only Tester with 4 little leds...it's about the size of a credit card. Hook to battery look at LEDS..turn on lights, rev motor...return to idle ..done. Porsches had plenty of problems with Hot Charging problems...(field gap improper)but Ferrari's have never had the same issues in my experience. Ferrari's have two issues (generally), Voltage Draw key off, Regulator/Brush Pack eventually wears out. No Tool can diagnois every different type of issue, determine real issue or suspected issue then use a specific tool for that type of diagnoisis |

I read few threads with problems concerning the battery, or alternator, on a Ferrari. I would like to prepare for that eventual day with my Ferraris. Testers come in hand held units, to free standing large ones. My interest lies in one that can put a load on, check amps as the car is running, etc. I hope that someone with technical expertice, in this area can help me. So.........which tester is THE BEST?????????
