So, living in New England (or other cold areas) you would suggest a lighter weight oil in the winter (5w-50) and 10W-40 in warmer times? |

Pat, Will update once the car arrives. Should be here, as i said in previous post, on Tuesday my friend. Have a pro-sumer dig cam so will trim down the 6MB file(s) to more web-friendly size. Enjoy The Drive, Steven R. Rochlin

DRIVER SIDE SCOOP IS FOR OIL COOLER ON ALL 3x8. BTW, I run CASTROL SYNTECH 5w-50 here in MA, but keep it off of the road during salt/sand season. The nice thing about synthetics is that their viscosity remains almost constant over a very wide temp range. |

At LeMans they used cardboard on those cold nights. If you look at pics of the 67 race you can see a piece gaffer tapped over part of the nose on the winning MK-IV. |

Stuff an old hat in the driver side air scoup. That is the air pickup for the oil cooler. I do that and it allows the oil temperature to rise to where it does in moderate weather - 170F. We get some very cold weather here in NE TN. It was 5 F this morning. |

I use a 5w-50 or 10w-50 synthetic or 10w-40 normal year round without issues. I normally don't drive the car when its below 25 degrees |

My 1989 328 GTS is stored in Massachusetts (Cape Cod) and when I take "her" out to stretch "her" legs, I notice that the oil temp and engine temp never get hot (even after 1hr of driving). Should I use a thinner oil (currently use 10W30) in the winter? If so, what is the best oil type to use for EACH season in New England? |
