Oh another datapoint. Nippon Denso sucks. they protect their information like neuclear secrets. I would stick to delco. If I had the brackets I would go back to Delco. Try getting parts or any data for the ND units. I say vote with your wallet.

RexRcr,

Actually the TSB is a switch from Delco to Nippon Denso. This includes new brackts. If you have the Delco it is much easier to have it rewired to 105A by a rebuilder unless you like to weld brakets.

There's a TSB on the Delcos. Change to Mitsubishi should have been done by now. I don't know if a dealer will honor the service now.

Craig,
I had my alternator rebuilt just last month.
I had the guts replaced to higher amperage
ie. new rotor, stator, higher amp diodes,
new alternator bearings.
I had it rebuilt with a friend that works
in an alternator remanufacturing plant that distributes to Autozone.
new output turned out at 120 amps from 90 amps.
what kills this unit is usually HEAT!!!!
by increasing its output rating, it should
run cooler.

craig - check your pm

Gene

Anyone ever install an aftermarket alternator on their car? I have a 308 and was considering doing this.

Craig,

Make sure alternator wiring is good first. Also try Rotex in gardena next to MK metals.

Craig, get in touch with Gene Agatep... (on So Cal contact list)... he had his alternator rebuilt with higher output (rather than switching out to ND alternator)... he should be able to point you in the right direction.
