Tommy, I saw your smiley face at the end of the sentence, so I know it wasn't totally serious (¬ Like this one).

But the concours thing does get to me. Admittedly, I would not someone to use bicycle parts on say, a 250 GTO, but for cars like the 308, the technology is not too far off from that kind-of thing! Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if one did find bicycle cable on a 250 GTO. I've seen it before on some old Lotus race cars...

(Thanks Jay for your offer before, but I have hardcopies of both...)

Douglas, there are alot of "little things" that add up to alot of money! $3 here $20 there $1000 over here, it never ends!

The best thing to do is get a spare parts and workshop manual. As I mentioned before I have them on CD, if anyone wants one email me. They save your life!

Wal-Marto works for me! Thats the beauty of this chat board. In two weeks of joining, I have met great people, have read 'colorful' strings and will end up saving hundreds of dollars with the tips and tricks I would never would have thought of. Hats off to all that take the time and help out us rookies.

I'm getting a little sick and tired of the concours song. Listen, people are very well aware it ain't original and if they seek original, their first stop is Ferrari of XXXXX. But who's gonna pay $70+ for a f---ing piece of wire or housing. I've never seen a concours judge rip apart a dashboard to see if the guy used the correct gauge wire.

If it works and works reliably, that my friend is the 1st prize trophy.

End of rant...

You guys have to remember these are not true Ferrari parts you're recommending. Imagine your embarrassment at the next concourse when the judge spots that Wal-Mart bike cable fix and drags it out for everyone to see. :-)

Yes do what Steve said! While you are at it, inspect the trunk and hood release cables also. Peter, if you want a copy of the spare parts manual and service manual email me. I have it on CD.

David what I did was to go out and buy some steel wire at a lumber store that was a gage smaller than the OEM wire inside . Then just pull out the existing wire and slide in the new wire. It should work smoothly .

The ones I have work but give a lot of resistance. The force I use to move them may lead to failure some day. What is the fix? Inject WD-40 down the cables? Thanks!

Bicycle brake-cable housing works PERFECTLY for these ventilation cables... You're looking at $1/foot for that . Splurge and get the teflon-lined stuff, even smoooother

As for the levers, Verell Boaen on this site is reproducing them (I'm not sure if they're in production yet). Our latest sponsor - Ferrari UK - has a treasure of odd bits and pieces, they may have the levers...

T. Rutlands usually has those parts
800-638-1444

To get the center console out, you'll find some small screws around the base along the floor, but the "main" release/mount screws are underneath the ashtray. Remove the ashtray, and you'll see them.

My God...I can see myself on FChat daily! Just think what this board would look like if it was titled 'Lets and moan about my marrige.com'...! Anyway, again, I live in a redneck area where'69 Ford truck mechanics are in serious demand, especially the ones where the owners drop off their trucks and forget to take the doberman out of the pickup bed!...My problem today: The '77 308 I bought has only one of the control levers for the heat vents, etc. in tack. One is missing and the other two's linkage is inop. I am sure I can fix this if I have a source for replacemnt linkage parts and understand how to remove the center consol to get to it....Any thoughts on a quick fix?

Thank you, Peter
