Understood Kurt -- not the only disconnect in the F documentation world, but I know I wouldn't try 90 mph on the similar TR spare.

Just checked the wheel:
"VELOCITA MASSIMA
DI UTILIZZAZIONE 150 km/h
MAX.SPEED 90 m.p.h. (150 km/h)"
Thats whats on the sticker.
Tire is Michelin 105R18 and wheel is 3 1/4B*18.

Andreas -- try this:

http://parts.ferrari.co.uk/v2/isoviewmain.asp?diagram=3495&subtype=28&category=36

(but I think you might need the isoview download from FerrariUK installed to view properly).

Browse the '85-'89 328 catalog -- the 328 non-abs spare is PN 133737 (supercedes 127378) for L385.90 (it's item 9 in the list so you have to scroll down in the isoview list).

Steve, I followed the instructions and went onto the site, but couldn't find spare tires, only regular wheels. Maybe user error, dunno.

Steve, I'll check the wheel when I get home.
I am however quite sure about the 150 km/h
I know the manuals says 80, but there is a sticker on the wheel saying differently.

Andreas -- Jeff Howe at Ferrari UK (the parts supplier linked from the Owners Site) -- see this FChat message for his instructions:

Dave, for the sake of the discussion let's just assume I don't want to go with the spare in a can. I realize that is an option.

My wheels are btw 16".

JeffUK's site???

Maybe I need another 1 on 1 with Gilles27 and use his spare on my 308. :-)

A dealer once told me, that the 308 and 328 wheels are totally interchangeable. He said the ABS vs non ABS version only becomes an issue when you lower the car. Dunno whether that's true though.

You can always get a "spare in a can" and save even more space. Or run flat tires. Cars after 328's have spares in cans already, so no big deal.

Kurt -- Are you sure about those 328 spare wheel specs? The various 328 OMs on the Owners Site seem to say the 328 spare rim is 3 1/4" x 18" (tire 105/80 R18) and the maximum speed is 50 mph (80 kph).

Andreas -- It seems we still can't figure out if a regular 328 non-abs wheel fits a 308 and now you're asking about the 328 spare on a 308!:-) My guess would be that the 328 non-abs vs 328 abs offset difference would also affect the spare so you may need to get the right flavor -- JeffUK's site lists them.

Kurt, Philip, thanks guys. Yup, you answered that one. I have ordered from Ferraripartsexchange before, just didn't realize what FPE stands for. Not enough coffee I suppose.

150 km/h on a spare? Wow! I have barely touched that speed on four sound wheels. Time to go to a track...

Andreas
Brian Keegan is at FerrariPartsExchange - they are online at the URL of same name. Brian is a great source of information.

I think Kurt answered your other question.

From memory:
18" by 4" spare with a special Michelin tire. Maximum speed 150 km/h.
On the rim is says "Dino" written in the familiar dino logotype (as on the car badges).
Notice that this wheel is a substitute for a 16" 328 wheel - you might have 14" rims on your car?

Philip, sounds interesting. Never heard of it. What does it look like? Who/what is FPE, got an URL?

Andreas, why not go for the Euro space saver spare. They are on eBay from time to time and several of the vendors used by many of us have them/can get them. Last time I checked, Brian Keegan at FPE had one.

Would a 328 spare tire fit a 308 and if so, could it be installed easily in the 308 bay? Anybody ever did that?

Also where could I get a 328 spare or what would be its dimensions if I had one custom made?

Just trying to add a bit more cargo space to my car.
