No, they arrive in a week or two. Carbon deposits where on the back of the car? The tail pipes or is the actual body-work getting fouled with soot? |

Yes, I got my plugs pretty close. I am now having quite a bit of carbon deposits on the rear of the car and I am not sure if it may be because of a weaker spark of ?. Reverse is a little strong now as well. Let me know if you have any ideas. Peter did you get your new Crane units? |

I have been using the Perlux (pertronix of old) in VW and Porsche applications for over 10 years and have had great results. The company has huge resources (lighting company) and makes a teriffic state of the art product and package. The unit is self contained, uses a magnetic hall type pickup sensor and eliminates points and condensors. |

Peter there is no control modules. It is an electronic pick-up that is inside the distributor. Instead of putting 1 pick-up in each dist. (this can be done) you put 2 in 1 dist. with 1 being 45 degress out of phase. This makes your timing dead on and you do not have to adjust 2 distributors to time the front and rear bank. Also you don't need to mount the control module boxes because there is none. You just replace the standard coils with a higher output type and you get a cleaner burn and better mpg and it is bullet proof. Steve |

Is there really an advantage to this? I don't see it. With what you just described, it sounds like you're still using TWO control modules, so why not install the trigger in each distributor? I've ordered the XR700's for my car. Greg, did you work out the plug bugs yet? |

I just got in touch with a guy in Calf. who puts 2 Pertronix's breakerless ign. devices in 1 308 dist. and only uses the 2nd dist. as a distribution device for the rear 4 cylinders. No add on's plus you up your coils and everything looks stock. You set the timing with 1 dist. and off you go. $400 for the conversion , you send him the dist. and he sends it back in 3-5 days. I'm going for it. Steve |

Hello Dave -- nice to hear from you, and that those headers have found a "good" home! |

I have a 77 308 that I use as a daily driver and have been happy with the Norwood conversion we had done. For those of you that don't know of Bob Norwood, any performance upgrade you have ever thought up for your Ferrari, Mr. Norwood has probably already done long ago.... At any rate it uses a single distributor with an internal pick-up coil replacing the old points system. We use an MSD6200 along with a MSD8202 Blaster Coil, and the single distributor gets a chevy cap and rotor. It works like a champ, and saves money in the long run. On an unrelated note, Hey Steve M, I finally sent those headers I bought from you on ebay to HPC to have them coated inside and out. I look forward to finally using them. Good Luck! Dave |

I have a 79 308 and have had converted it using the XR700 kits. I have been very happy with the results. There was another posting last year from another owner that used the XR3000 units on an injected 308. He had a severe problem with the two modules interfearing with each others signals because they emit alot of RF. The cure was to replace with the XR700 series. I have also heard of problems caused with some of the other ultra high output ignitions (MSD, etc.)due to the fact that the cap and rotor were never designed to tolerate the super high voltages that are available now. |

Which is the best Electronic ignition conversion for a Carbed, 308 GTS? Is Crane the best for daily driver and faster starts? Thanks. |
