Thanks Steve! Glad to see he still has these wheels listed. What tires do you guys run on these in 7" width? I get a little rubbing on the front springs to inside of tirewall with 6.5 rims and 205/70/14 tires so I don't want to go too much wider unless I can use some sort of spacer. Or perhaps they have the proper offset built into them already. I know some Dino Coupe owners are running these so there must be a way. (oops! did I just admit I don't have a Ferrari?!!)

Richard -- I agree that the reproduction 16" QV wheels aren't easy to find on the new Superformance site: Parts Store 308 Catalogue Body & fittings Wheels & bolts $1,400 USD a set (if I did the convertion right from L985) |

I have the P4000 "super touring" in 205/70/14 and it's not a bad tire. It is pretty quiet as far as road noise goes, but it does squeel a lot on cornering. Or perhaps it is just my car: I've played around with air pressures a bit and the car seems to be aligned (tracks straight) but maybe caster/camber is off. In a way, it is good to get an audible warning from a tire when it is starting to reach its limits: but even when cornering at speeds that shouldn't be the limit, I hear them. So either the traction limit is low or my car is off or the tires are just noisy. For those of you in northern/central california, if you know the Pacheco pass (152) my tires could be heard to squeel going round the moderate highway curves on that grade at anything over 85mph (plenty of mini vans and pickup trucks going that speed). On more curvy roads it's even more annoying and slightly worrisome (but they haven't broken totally free yet - just a little looseness in the rear which is good because it helps get my heavy car around the corner better). I don't see the rims listed on Superformance's new website: I hope he still has them. How much were they a set, anyway? -Rich

Harald, the Pirelli P4000's are avaliable in Europe in "V" speed rating, in 205/70-14 (Mitchell, those of us in North America are shafted with the "H" rating only. The salesman said the reason why, is this tire is used on mostly sedate sedans, therefore anything greater than "H" is unnecessary. That's why they don't have the "V" here). |

Harald -- sounds like a good reason to give Superformance UK (http://www.superformance.co.uk) a call and get a set of the Aluminum 16" 308QV wheels for your 308GT4... |

I can't seem to find the P4000 in V rated speeds anymore. Only H rated to 130MPH now. |

I have been happy with the Pirelli P4000 tires on my GT4. They are the same size as the Michelins and also V rated. You may find them for a better price.....worth checking. Good Luck! |

The tyres on my '75 308GT4 are quite old (14 years) and need to be replaced urgently. Yesterday I called a tyre shop and they told me the original Michelin XWX 205/70VR14 are still available but cost 300 EURO (270 US$) per piece. Wow. While this is the only tyre in this size with the high speed specification (up to 250 km/h) it seems I have to buy these tyres. A tyre with a lower speed spec is not admitted since the car is registered in Germany and we have no speed limit here. Or is there any alternative? |
