Paul, The whistle under those conditions ususlly is a vacuum leak. Check all those little hose connections. |

It is coming from the air intake system. 308's with FI and 328's also make this noise, usually under part throttle acceleration. Normal cars have this noise dampened out becuase people want quiet cars. Dave |

could be an exhaust whistle. Check the archives, as this was a common ailment with the stock 308 exhaust... |

It could be you are hearing eletrical noise through your radio speakers. This happens sometimes if the stereo isn't hooked up properly. |

Hi all, I was out the other day giving the 348 a run down the motorway and noticed that under acceleration the engine gives out a whistling sound, de accelerate or keep constant revs and it stops also only under power not when stationary. The easiest way to describe it is like when driving a turbocharged car. It is a constant pitch and does not vary with engine speed .The volume of the whistle is obviously much, much lower than a turbo whistle but still audible. I know I occasionally hear bells ringing in my head so I asked a friend of mine to listen to it as well. He was the one that described it like the turbo whistle. Its got me! Any ideas?
