Mine were in the down position also. I almost pulled the seats off the floor boards to get them up. Once up they look like they have been in the down position for the life of the car due to accumilation of dirt etc...on the top of the seat and bottom of the head rest that wasn't removed during regular cleaning.

I cannot get mine to go up or down. They are in the bottom position.

Mine always fall back. You have an excellent idea, Peter.

Does anybody have a problem with the headrests dropping to the lowest position too easily? Mine click solidly into the position, but invariably end up flush against the seat top over time. I plan to cut clear platic tubing (10mm inside diameter) to the exact length of my preferred position and slide the tubing over the headrest posts to hold them up. Is there a better solution?

As far as I know they are on suicide clips. once there in they are in. You must open the seat back or just pull it off with force and use new clips.

Peter, post a picture and draw an arrow to the position of the hidden button.

This could be a huge help for other FC'ers.

Eric, just jerk the things off. You aren't pulling hard enough.

Wow, you guys have some pretty strong thumbs. I probed around on the back of the seats and never found a release latch, nor did the headrests come off -- but I do have some rather sore thumbs now .

Also Peter, just curious, is your car US or Euro?

Peter, that's great news...glad you found it!

Just out of curiousity...where exactly is it located -- above the seatback panel? Approximately how far down from the top of the seatback was it, and on which side of the seat (driver side or passenger side)? Thanks!

Eric, Erik, Stu & Ric

Thank you for the replies. I found the release that was behind the seats(internal), pushing it in to release the headrest. I have to admit, I had a razor in my back pocket! This one was driving me crazy!

I will take a photo of what the mechanism looks like and post it later!

Had the same problem here Stu...never could get mine to release. Even went through the trouble of unclipping the top portion of the seat back so as to get a better view of the interior components. I finally gave up trying. This was about a year ago when I was trying to install brand new sheepskin covers (sans headrest covers) -- I ended up cutting slits in the top of the covers so as to allow them to slip over the headrests. Since redyeing the interior, I now just use the tan Ferrari slipcovers (seatsavers) -- much easier to take off and put on. Spent $500 for the sheepskins, and now they are sitting in the closet! Live and learn, I guess.

Peter, you can remove the seatback panel to get a better view of the inside components, but it has pop-rivets. Hope you figure it out...let us know if you have any success.

I tried in vain to remove my headrests as well and I never found the release! I'm very aware that there is a release on most cars hidden in the back of the seat, but I'll be darned if I could find it!

I wonder if it's a Euro vs US thing? Could it be that Euro 308's didn't have the release??

There a latch on the back of the seat, below the headrest, hidden under the leather. Use your thumb and poke gently around until you find the hole with the catch. Press in while pulling the headrest and it will release.

I am trying to pull out the head rests of my 308 seats to put covers on. In turn, I am pulling out my hair! This one has me stumped and I am sure its a simple task!

Replies are beyond appreciative!
