Peter, I already posted the probable cause of your oil leak earlier on your last post. The oil pressure light sending unit is probably leaking between the spade terminal and the unit's housing, that's why your oil light comes on, because it's spitting oil out of the sending unit.(the unit closest to the carbs on the oil filter housing). If you want to check it take it off and blow about 50# of air into the end of it and see if oil comes out the other side. As far as your air cleaner, it's probably as JRV says, you're getting excessive blow-by from your motor. Can't imagine oil on top of block caused by air filter leakage rivee |

It's really not clear (to me at least) how or why you are connecting the air cleaner and oil filter housing. If the air cleaner is filling with oil, this is a Crankcase Blow-By Issue...if so much oil is filling the air cleaner to run into the V...yikes. If something around the Oil Filter Housing is leaking then replace the warning light sender. If the oil light comes on with a new sender, you have "other" issues. If you are a DIY'er work on one issue at a time and try to seperate in your head that 'all' issues are 'not' neccesarily the same or related to one another. It's not uncommon for cars to have more than one problem at the same time. Try to segregate the issues and address the most striaghtforward and simple first, then move on to others. Seems to me replacing the oil warning lite sender is very easy and eliminates a leak source from the list of unknowns. |

any leak that causes the low pressure light to come on is cause for serious concern - I would not run the engine. Since you already did this test can't you see where is is coming from? how about the hoses from the oil cooler (not sure if you have one) |

peter It sounds from your post as though this is not a new topic, in which case I have missed the prior posts (and others have probably expanded on this at length). The only time I have had oil in the "v" between the cylinder heads is from a leaking filter. I had three leak on me until I changed brands (to UFI) since when I have had no further issues. philip |

After cleaning the oil leak on the top of the engine block, I ran the car 25 miles. The low pressure light came on again after 20 miles. When parked, I looked at the area I cleaned, which there was a fesh deposit of oil. I have not taken any components apart yet for a further look. I am hopeful this may be a gasket issue. There is also oil seapage in the air filter compartment. I look forward to replies for suggestions of what the fix for this problem may be. |
