The Weber carb (2 barrel like half a 4 barrel, 300cfm, a little more modern than the 308 carbs)I put on my jeep shares the weeping woes. I had it all apart like a month ago when the jeep was giving me attitude (like a daily occurance) and everything is in good shape, but the rebuild kits are only $25 so this summer might as well. Cool page from the Flist. Things are definitely more interesting with carbs. |

Thank you all for the great replies. In regard to the oil pressure light going on and off and there are no leaks present in the area of the sensor, should a replacement of this unit take care of the problem? So many people have told me that these units send false warnings when they get old. |

Agree with JRV...my 911 with Weber carbs did same thing, and looked just like your photos; do a rebuild and be sure to use new base gaskets |

The air swirl inside the air filter housing could cause the fuel to weep up. |

It has probably been a while since the carb gaskets were changed, but there is the residue ABOVE the carb gasket. Does this make sense???The fuel reside cant go 'up', can it? |

Agree with Ric and JRV. BTDT too. Quite a bit of fuel though. When were the carb gaskets last changed? Philip |

Fuel residue, not oil. |

What I see in this photo is the typical fuel residue on DCNF's. After years & heat cycles ll the galley plugs in the carb bodies weep gasoline. The fuel VOC's evaporate leaving a gummy residue behind. The fix requires removing all the carbs. |

Regarding my past post of the oil leak pooling on the top of the block, I took off the air filter carrier and cleaned all of the oil that was on the top of the block. I ran the car to op temps (standing). With the past replies to this problem, the oil pressure sending unit may have been the cause. After 20 minutes of idle and periodic 15-20 seconds at 3000 RPM, there was no evidence of the leak. During this time, the engine oil pressure light did not come on, as it did the last time I drove it (Last 5 miles of 25). Being that upon taking off the top lid to the air filter and seeing a fair amount of oil deposit in the base of the filter pan and oil residue around the mid section of the carbs, my thinking is that the engine is running so rich that oil is coming through the carbs somehow and leaking its way down to the top of the block.(I am doing my best here, I am not a trained mechanic. I hope I am being clear). I am hopeful a few of you may please review the attached pictures and pass your thoughts back. Thank you, Peter
