I am not interested in originality, I am after good looks. I have after market tires and wheels as well and a Sony CD player. If you can make the car more attractive (subjective I know) and more fun to drive, why not do it? After all, it's a 308 not a 250 Spider. As far as reduced strength, I have done this plating to many parts on many cars without any failures, so I feel confident that any loss is very minimal. |

I'm not sure if you were replating for "dress up" or for originality. I tend toward the latter, and feel compelled to point out that almost all the bolts, nuts and many of the other parts you chose to use bright zinc should actually be yellow zinc. Also, replating the high-strength suspension bolts and forks could weaken them. I've been told by my plating service that the parts need to be properly "baked" to reduce the effect of hydrogen embrittlement. |

Tommy, it is the stock header, just coated with ceramic then aluminum. There is a 5 yr warranty against discoloration, chipping, peeling, fading, etc. It cost me $181.00 with frt. to get it done. I only did the rear. You can go to their web site at www.jet-hot.com. |

What kind of exhaust header is that in there? Where did you get it? |

Here are some before & after photos of my project to detail my engine compartment and rebuild/re-plate my brakes. Header was ceramic/aluminum coated at Jet Hot. Valve cover was powder coated (high temp). All other parts were yellow and bright zinc plated.
