Go with the new one, it can't be that much different price wise. I can't imagine why a new wheel wouldn't look great in any car. |

Eric: I appreciate your update. I was alsmost headed this way, Tommy's looked really good. Recovering that wheel seems like it would be quite a task to get it right. The other issue I have to deal with is that a new or recovered one my stand-out in my 60K mile car. Another Fcar Chatter is preparing a price for a nice used one. I think this or Jeff Howe's offer may be my best choice. Thanks, Mark

Mark...with regards to the option of having your wheel recovered by AGLA...I would highly recommend that you get a second opinion (perhaps via e-mail) from Dr. Tommy Cosgrove (fellow F-Chatter here on the board) as to how the quality of workmanship was on his 308 wheel. The only reason I bring this up is that I just received the wheel for my 944 that I had recovered by AGLA, and I wasn't very impressed with the quality and results. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 5. It will suffice for the 944, but I'm having second thoughts about sending my 308 wheel in for this service. For the price I paid, the results were no where near that standard or level. I'm not the only one who was unimpressed either, as I've recently read another Porsche owner's opinions about their wheel service. Additionally, the work was supposed to be a 10-day turnaround; however, it took over 2 months before I finally received the wheel (granted, it was over the holiday period, and part of this was Fedex's fault, but only a few days worth). On the other hand, the shift boot / knob was top quality IMHO -- but the color of the leather was much darker than my interior -- but, then again, it will suffice. Allan and Diane (at AGLA) are wonderful people to deal with. For your peace of mind, though, you might want to ask around before sending in your Ferrari wheel -- especially for what you'll be charged. The genuine factory item that Jeff Howe mentioned at a price of only $250.00 is considerably less than what you'll pay to have recovered. Just my thoughts...certainly not trying to stir the pot or point fingers...just giving some consumer advice from my experiences.

Mark, Do a web search on Momo wheels. There are discount houses that sell Momo wheels, and there are a couple designs that look very close to the stock 328 wheel and cost around $150 or so. You even have a couple choices in wheel size. I think you can go down about one inch in diameter. |

Everybody: I appreciate all your advise. I agree about the "skinny" TR steering wheel; I am now considering three options. A fellow F car chatter is preparing a quote for me on a used one and my second choice is the new one from the UK, my third choice is the recovered one from AGLA. I will keep you all posted. Thanks, Mark |

Jeff - What's the OD of the 328 steering wheel? 350mm? Mark -- Can't say I'm a fan of the stock thin-rimmed, thin-spoked 365mm OD TR steering wheel:
-- it's an ugly duckling compared to that 328 steering wheel IMO.

Repacement 328 steering wheels looked pretty cheap from Ferrari UK (200 pounds). Or you can find many MOMO wheels that will fit at many internet sites. There are a lot of different ones that will bolt right up. I bought a spacer, with longer bolts from www.ogracing.com that brings the wheel about an inch or so closer. With that, you definitely need the Momo horn button adapter. |

Mark...give AGLA (Alan Gun Leather) a call at 800-780-4500 or check them out at http://www.aglausa.com/. They recover Ferrari (and other) steering wheels. In fact, they just recovered a 4-spoke Porsche steering wheel for me, and the package should arrive this evening -- can't wait to get home and check it out. I plan to have them recover the 308 wheel next. Check out the following link for Dr. Cosgrove's 308 wheel that he had recovered by AGLA: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/21/65892.html?1024546556 |

David & Brian: Thanks for your input. I am changing the wheel because mine is sun damaged on the top. I am also considering having it recovered. There is an outfit advertised in Forza that recovers them. I'll keep you posted. |

Both steering wheels are made by Momo, so the wheel will fit the hub on your car as well as the horn button. The TR wheel is a flatter wheel (not as much dish to it). The 328 wheel also has the "thumb rests" and the outer end of the 9 and 3 o'clock spokes which the TR does not. Personal preference really, unless you show your car. |

You may need to get the Momo horn adapter, which is a stamped metal peice that retains the horn button, otherwise, I THINK it will fit. 246 and 308 wheels should definitely fit. Why are you changing the wheel? I like the 328 wheel much better than the 308/246 wheel. |

I have found a used steering wheel for an '89 Testarossa w/ six bolt pattern does anybody know if this would be the same one as an OEM '87 328? or would there only be a subtle, but usable difference. How about a 246 or 308 steering wheel? Any help, direction, or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mark |
