Just be very careful tightening down the 2 screws that hold the lever ass'y in place. Just tighten them enough so that the lever bezels don't slide around in the mounting holes. The pressure on the bezel of these screws being very tight is often the cause of lever failure. Sticking cables are the other main cause of the bezels breaking. Make sure the cables move freely so they won't put undue force on the levers. Lubricate the cables & the vent flaps & temp valves with bicycle cable lube, or a graphite based lock lubricating solution. |

I purchased my '77 308 and all of the levers were broken. I'll be doing this replacement tomorrow, Sunday. I would guess the job is fairly straight forward. Is there anything I need to be careful of in the reassembly process? |
