The material is indeed rated to 1000oF, the muffler will get to about 400 - 500 o if you run at the track for 20 minutes or so. This is the same exact stuff, last time I used it was on an F40 rear valance. |

Nick, you beat me to the punch. I asked a similar question in an other post but looks like you got the answer first. Rexrcr, what is the heat rating of that stuff? I found some similar stuff that was rated at 1000 deg F. How hot do the exhausts get? |

Don't go to the dealer for this stuff, you're right, it's commonly available. It is fiberglass cloth with an aluminum outer layer called thermal barrier cloth. I buy from Pegasus #1832 for $26.49 / sq.ft. http://www.pegasusautoracing.com I'm sure you can probably find it anywhere in the country near you. Try aircraft supply in the yellow pages. You can glue it with the 3M spray adhesive available at hardware stores. |

Try Buckley Aircraft, they are in the midwest somewhere or Thermal Structures in Corona California. |

Just trying to see if anybody knows what type of heat insulation material is glued to the back (inner) bumper of a 348 to protect it from the muffler? Anybody know where you can buy it? (besides the dealer) Trying to save a few dollars. Thanks. |
