I'm assuming you mean the shims between the caliper and the rear hub assemb.? If so, yes you can reuse them. |

Ken, I am in the middle of rebuilding mine as well and I just ordered both kits for each wheel. My e.b. lever seals were shot as well. I had my calipers re-zinced while I had them apart and posted photos last week under technical. I can't answer your question about the shims, I've never worked on brakes B4 this. |

I just got off the phone with T.Rutlands, and dammit, I should've called them first. From the pics on Sodacom's website, it looks like they've only got the seals for the pistons. T.Rutlands' kit also includes the little o-rings that go between the calipers. They also have a separate kit specifically for the parking-brake leak problem.

Just had my rear calipers rebuilt due to leak. Shop did complete rebuild, still had leak. Turns out it was the 'O' ring where the emergency brake lever enters the caliper; needed rebuilding anyway, I will be doing my fronts in a a short time. |

I've discovered a leak in my driver-side rear brake caliper (right at the lever for the parking brake), and I've ordered a set of o-rings from Sodacom (#95691536) for a rebuild. Searches here have turned up some info on this subject, but I still have a few unanswered questions. (I haven't taken the caliper off yet.) 1) Is the caliper rebuild likely to solve my problem? From the diagrams I've looked at, it appears the parking brake lever acts on a pin that pushes on the back of the piston. The o-ring kit does not appear to include something that seals it on that side. 2) Is it a problem to reuse the shims? If so, where can I get new ones? 3) I've never worked on a caliper with this parking brake mechanism. Are there any nasty surprises waiting for me? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. |
