I am the 4th owner of mine but with a long history. My father was a partner in a Ferrari dealership for about 10 years and they sold this car in March of 78 ( built in nov. 77). They sold to the original owner who was a 29 year old doctor and kept the car for a year. It was sold again by the dealership to the second owner who also kept it a year and traded it back in. My dad then kept it for 23 years and I got it in October 2002. I have all of the paperwork from day one, including the dealer invoices from Chinetti and the floorplan loan sheets( they paid Chinetti 25900, sold it for 30000, and to the second owner for 30K), the original owners survey, and every repair ever done. I have jokingly said that I feel like the service records should be in a safe deposit box because they are worth a few thousand dollars on a sale of the car. But considering that I have been riding in this car since I was 10, it is not going anywhere. |

I am glad to hear that. You should print that picture of me in his car and show them. I wasn't even old enough to have a driver's license then. I'll bring my 308 album to the track next month and show you what I have. |

Tommy, Peter happened to call me this afternoon, and I related your story. He didn't remember you coming over, but laughed when I said you still had all those pictures you took some 20 years ago, and he said he'd tell Jane. He was sure she'd remember and be very pleased to hear it gave you a happy memory for all these years. He hoped they'd meet you at one of the local Ferrari events in the future. |

I am the second owner of my 84 QV. I had the chance to walk around for a couple of hours at Cavalino with the Original Owner (now 71 yrs young). I felt bad to say it was "my car" so I called it "our car." We laughed later on as we realized people probably thought I was his "boy toy". I am 30 he is 70 calling it our car...you get the joke right? |

The young one in the black tshirt *next* to the yellow hat is my daughter. Yellow-hat was one of her two F-car loving friends from high school ROTC (he rode in the Ferrari with me up there, and the guy behind my daughter in the SF shield hat rode home with me). I'm in the back row on the left in the sunglasses. The guy kneeling in the front row on the left wasn't part of our F-car outing... he was the tour guide at the Jack Daniels Distillery where the photo was taken.

Another thing, I distinctly remember his wife telling me that the Ferrari was "substantially better then the Maserati". That's exactly how she put it. I think they owned a Merek. I am not kidding, I remember that evening like it was yesterday. |

Is that really an 80 model? I have been thinking since then it was an 82. It must be a really late 80 because it has horizontal gauges by the shifter instead of the stacked version Ferrari did that first year they produced the injected cars. Maybe it's an 81 model but the door jam says 11/80 or something. I would like to see that car again. Do they frequent the gatherings up there? I may need to come up more often. I'll bring my car so they can see what they got me into 20 years ago. |

Last November one of my customers sold his Red, Tan 1977 308 GTB that he owned since new, had 11,000 orig. miles. I worked the car for him for 15 yrs so I know it was all real. I don't see it alot, but it does happen. The new owner has already put 5K miles on it... |

Wow, small world indeed. If you go to www.tradetutor.com/tenn/pics/jdgroup.jpg that's Peter on the far right (front row, blue jeans, holding the camera) probably a little older than you remember him, and his wife Judy is front row, separated from him by three other ladies in the photograph (she's got blue jeans, dark polo shirt, hands clasped, light brown hair). Yep, small world!

I took these pictures way back in Aug 1983. I was up in Huntsville getting braces (I was just starting 10th grade). Peter's wife just happened to be in the grocery store across the lot from his office when I was taking these. She invited me over to her house that evening. I went, and got my first ride in a 308. I can't believe they still have that same car. I have tons of pictures of it that are over 20 years old now. Small world. I wonder if they remember me? Here's one of me sitting in it when I was 15. |

Tommy -- Sure does! "47" prefix is Huntsville... and I know all (or at least most) of the Fcar owners up here, so that must indeed belong to my friends Judy and Peter (Judy usually drives it)! Where did you see it? Another pic of it from one of our local events is here below, car on the far right. More pics from that event are at http://www.tradetutor.com/tenn/

I have yet to see a 308 in person who's current owner is its first--what a good feeling that would be, to know exactly what has been done, by who, and all the little things that pop up and get discussed that don't get documented... Get this. Mine was purchaed as a birthday present back in 88 for this guy's wife. Really nice guy. Anyway, they got divorced, and because the car was a gift, the wife kept the car, even though she didn't drive it that much. She wouldn't even sell it back to the poor guy! Mean! So, if this guy was the first purchaser of the car (he's not), would you consider it a one-owner or a two-owner car? I don't know if the wife ever had it retitled... Stayed in the same area (MD). |

Not me (I'm second owner of record on mine), but one of my local neighbors has had their '80 308 GTS since new from FaF/Atlanta. It's a sort of "brown metallic" color, whatever that would be officially called. |

The post about the color of the rear emblems got me wondering about this. It seems most of us are the second, third, etc. owners of our cars. Anyone still have their 308 that they bought new? |
