Paul it may not be the controls but the electric valves sticking that the switches control You should be able to swap the controls to check, I think they are different part numbers due to fixings only so trying them out of the recess will be fine. If it makes no difference it's the valves that are sticking or faulty if you do need a new one drop me a mail, I know a local company that almost certainly will have secondhand ones in stock at a fraction of the cost you mentioned |

Thanks. When you start the car- all the LEDs are on. Touch either rocker bar and all the LEDs go off immediatly. Holding the bars do nothing after the LEDs go off.

Paul, Congrats on your first Ferrari. You say the lights instantly turn off? Are you talking about the light that illuminates the switch? This light may turn off instantly from a dirty connection. In order to turn the heater off or adjust the temperature, you have to hold down the switch until the red/yellow lights go on/off incrementally - not instantly. So lets hope it is your illumination light. Kurt, What do you use to clean contacts and how did you go about it? |

By the way, I had problems with the left control as well - took it apart and cleaned contacts and part of the printed circuit inside for corrosion. Not much coorosion, but apparently enough to sort of make it "stick" in a selected position and not respond to changes. This was the heater side of the switch, not the distribution side. Has worked very nicely since. |

I don't think the controls are interchangeable - if they were, why the different part numbers? Anyway check out this for starters: http://www.ferrarichat.com/discus/messages/112/183283.html |

Hello all, I have bought my first Ferrari - a 328. Very happy with it. But I have one problem I thought I'd ask for help with. I did search the archives and didn't find this info. The passenger side heater control doesn't work right. When you turn on the car all the LEDs are "on". But if you touch either one of the rocker switches - all the lights instantly turn off and stay off until you shut the car off and restart it. The LEDs are an accurate portrayal of the heater setting. Full heat with it directed to the windshield. Even without the fan on there is some ram effect thru the heater core so the interior gets pretty warm after awhile. The drivers side control works fine. Can I swap the controls from side to side even though their part numbers are different? The heater control unit is quite expensive-$800. Thanks, Paul Wehmer
