eatwood has a bumper black paint...I have used it on my 78 gts...though after a couple of love taps in the good old NYC garage caused it to crack...it looked great till the garage thing...fortunately, I now have the car in my own garage

Hi.

Sorry, those are Euro bumpers. USA ones are a bit pricey still....but we do keep them...Genuine Italian ones....

Jeff,
Which bumpers are those? US or Euro spec?

Andreas,
Make sure the shop mixes a flex additive into the paint. That will let the paint flex with the bumper material instead of flaking off.

Lots of shops skip the flex additive when redoing plastic bumpers. A couple of years later the flaking begins.

I had my front bumper painted in the car's color as well (stole the idea from Sloan's car, which IMHO is the nicest 308 I ever saw). Soon thereafter I slightly bumped a wall. That cracked the paint wide open and now it is flaking off. Not a pretty sight. Have to return the car to the paint shop.

FChat member Paul Sloan's car has them painted. Here's a small pic of his car. Very sharp! Look for his profile for a larger pic.

Mine had some cracks in it, I used J-B weld epoxy to fill it in, then sanded the bumper , then primed and painted it with a single stage urethane.

NAPA makes a flex bumper repair kit, part #765-1540 which I have used and works great for fixing any cracks or nicks. Then I used bumper black spray for final finish.

Tom--Plasti-Kote makes a spray-can bunper /trim paint which I've found to be excellent. They have flat or semi-gloss black finishes. I've found the flat to be much nicer-- very easy, forgiving, and evening to a completely smooth, uniform finish, whereas the semi never turned out that uniformed. Although I've never used this stuff on my Ferrari, I have on a couple of other cars and they turned out great.

Took mine off, sanded them, primed, resanded and painted with bumper black. Turned out good.

Has anyone tried restoring or refinishing bumpers on a 308 to make them look new and "fresh" again?
If so what method did you use?
