Steve the car still cranks when I start, no smells. Voltage is fine so its not the alternator. I hope it wasn't a tensioner bearing.

If it isn't the alternator bearing sizeing then maybe the starter moter stayed engaged and now burned up. You didn't get any kind of smell , like rubber or electrical ?

I just had a 30,000 service done in my Mondial 3.2 Spider. I was driving at low rpms and all of a sudden, a high pitched squeel came from the engine. I crushed the clutch and pulled over. It went away. I drove for a mile and then it quickly came back. This time it just died. It got towed to my shop. My auxillery belts are fine. If I'm not mistaken, a cam belt failure would sound like nuts & bolts in a dryer. I heard a squeel and thats it. I had a major service done by a dealership two months ago 12/02, about 4000miles ago. I am hoping there is hope that something less chronic may have occurred. Has anyone experienced this phenomena? Thanks in advance! Please help, I'm nervous.
