I worked on a 328 with the exact same problem. Turned out to be the fuel pump. Delivery was fine at low speeds, and the pressure was fine under test, but the pump couldn't deliver the volume.

What are the CO & HC readings? and what did the ignition system patterns look like on a scope?

Mayron,
The converter is a good possibility but, I would also do a fuel pressure test and check the fuel injection head. it is possible that the control valve is sticking and not providing enough fuel when required.

Best regards, Jim

Make sure your tach is accurate. 308 tachs usually are, but you need to make sure you are not actually overrevving the motor. Also, catalytic converters (if you have one) can cause this when they begin to plug up.

Ben--I'm not a mechanic and I'm new to Ferraris so take this input as more of a question rather than hard fact. With re: to igniton functioning, I believe that if the smoothness/ power is breaking down at very high rpms, a bad coil could be the culprit. Based upon what you've said, I'd check the coils themselves--one of them may be breaking down with the need for stronger juice at the high rpm range. At idle and lower rpm functioning, a marginally wearing-out coil may function fine as it doesn't need to produce as much current. Just a thought--good luck--and let us know how this resolves.

I ve changed the fuel filter. It's the same problem., 6500 rpm and no more. Spark plugs, air filter, fuel accumulator have 2000 miles.
At the same time i've a metallic sound at 2200 rpm, i don't know where it come, all metallic plate are fix. I don't knows if it's the same problems. The throttle cable is adjusted correctly. The electrical connections to the coils are good and tight.
Another advice ?
Thanks for your help

Mayron,
The guys are right, change that fuel filter but since your not sure of service history, I would suggest a complete tune-up with all fluid and filter changes just to get yourself a baseline of service on the car.
I would also suggest checking the throttle cable to see if it is adjusted correctly. you might have your foot buried to the floor but engine at 3/4 throttle. Have someone hold pedal to floor(engine not running) and see if you are actuating the throttle on the engine side to full.

Best regards, Jim

Also, I have heard that if your fuel pump is on the way out..this will happen. Need to check and see if it is pumping 1000ml/min while disconnected. If it is less, change the pump and hopefully problem is solved. But first, change the filter and see if that solves your problem.

Change the spark plugs while you're at it.

Like Ken, I would check your maintenance records for a fuel filter change. If it needs one, it is a less than an hour job. Also, make sure that all of the electrical connections to the coils are good and tight.

I have a problem with my 83 QV. When arrived at 6000/6500 rpm she don't want to go up more. she keep this speed. It's seem like a lack of gas. But from idle to 6500 she run fine
Could you help me ?
Sorry for my english
