I concur w/ Dr. ferrari. I think they did it this way ( or it's a dealer mod) because if they used a regular snap, the metal cap would scratch the engine lid when up. I've seen cars with it, and with a standard through snap. If you don't need it to hold the boot in place, don't use it. MK |

Frank, That is a velcro fastener for the top boot. it is snaped in the rear center matching clip. You will find when the boot is installed, this matches up with a velcro on the boot which helps hold it down in the center. Regards, Jim |

What the Heck is this for? Found it in the glove box when car was delivered. There seems to be a matching snap on the rag top centered below the plastic window. Did not see it in the parts book.
