easy job. Did mine. no problem. Also did other hoses. Had to drain tanks through drain plug to do lower hoses connecting pipe to tank.Thats where i was actually leaking. Hose is metric. If u get English hose it may not be quite right and it will matter over time. Do selve a favor and get exact hoses when dealing with fuel. |

Make sure you replace the bottom tank hoses with fuel grade hose! The filler neck is not as important because fuel is not really sitting on it (I used marine exhaust hose), but those two hoses that join the tanks are always submerged in fuel. BTW The filler neck hose is 11" long. |

The hose NAPA sells is made by Goodyear. Seems like an OK hose for the purpose. I've never seen the gates hose. I thought gates greenstripe were only coolant hoses, not fuel hoses. Dom |

What kind of hose does NAPA sell? I bought a piece of Gates 2.250 ID fuel hose from another parts supplier and it seems kind of stiff and it looks like a big, low quality heater hose. There is no fabric wrapping, just some kind of a cord impregnated in the wall of the hose. Is this what NAPA sells?

I got the 2 ft section of hose from Napa. Actually, a 1 foot section is long enough. Put it in place, and everything looks good. Dom |

Well, I went to NAPA during luch. I had called them, and they told me that they had 4 feet in stock. When I got there, it turns out that they only had 4 1-ft long sections. They said they would order some longer sections, and get them in tomorrow. I looked at the hose last night through the engine compartment, but didn't measure it. It seems like 2 feet should be plenty, but was very iffy if 1 foot would be enough. Dom |

Dom: I'm not sure, but I seem to remember that you can see it thru the fenderwell after removing the inner fender liner. |

Sorry, I should have specified GT4. So, at least a foot. Maybe I'll buy 2 feet just to be sure. Or, perhaps I should try to take it out and measure the length?

Sorry Hans, Dom never said what 308 he had, and Matt's post of the 308 GTS/GTB parts page led me to believe we were talking GTS/GTB.... |

Dave: On a GT4, it's considerably longer. Runs horizontally for a foot or more. Hard to tell exactly, as it disappears behind the coils and other 'stuff'. But I could 'Braille' at least a foot. It's a scary deal, because of it's horizontal position - gas can just sit there. I make sure the gas station attendant doesn't top up! |

Fuel filler neck hose is 3.75 inches long. Mine was replaced on my previous 78 308 and it was scary close to failure. Check-em soon guys, these cars are getting old! Any vintage 308 should have that hose replaced. See Tom Yang's site for "ferrari stories" and there is a "308 car-b-que" caused by this very problem. |

Can anyone tell me how much of the two hose sizes is needed i.e., how long is the 2 1/4 inch dia "neck" hose and what length of the 7mm/14mm hose is required? In his book, Allen Bishop talks (well, raves) about the older Ferrari style hoses (yellow braided). This available anywhere? If not, is fuel hose fuel hose or are there different grades? Philip |

One more question. If the leakage is indeed from the fuel filler hose (I believe the bottom hoses were replaced, but I will check when I look under the car), can I just siphon out a couple of gallons of gas and at least be able to drive the car around until I get a chance to fix it? Dom |

Dom, Get that fixed ASAP. Huge fire danger. 2 1/4 at napa the smaller hoses around the fuel pump and filter are 14mm outside 7mm inside. Replace them all. Also as Tom said, get new clamps. Also, there is a pipe that connected the left and right tank, there are some rubber that will need to be replaces as well |

Also check all the vent lines at the top of the fuel tanks. Repalce all of these while you are there! Use new hose clamps and top grade fuel vent line. |

The other day, as I was jacking my car (just before the damn jack broke!), I noticed a strong fuel smell from the driver rear side of the car (The car had a full tank). When I picked up my car, the mechanic mentioned that the fuel filler hose probably would need replacement soon, but unfortunately he did not have any replacement hose on-hand. I am assuming the fuel filler hose should be replaced, and sooner rather than later. Is this a job I can do easily by myself? Any tips that I should know? I'd like to do it this weekend, as soon as I buy a new f***ing jack. I checked the archives, and it looks like the hose I need is a 2 1/4 inch Goodyear fuel hose, which is available at NAPA. Is this correct? Anything else I should replace while I'm down there? I understand, the other hoses are 7mm ID, 14mm OD. Thanks, Dom
