You can carefully file the points to get rid of the arc pitting and it'll breathe new life into them. Install new condensors immediately (From NAPA: Echlin MA-3) and they'll be good for another 5K mi...

As Hans stated lube the advance mechanism and you may check them for accuracy.

Caps and rotors you have to make the call then-and-there. Minor arc marks can be taken up with some emery cloth, while major pitting is a sign they're pretty much gone.

I thought the replacement cycle on the points (and rotors?) is 6K miles. Likely you'll need 4 sets of points if you're running the R1, R2 set up, plus check the microswitch operation. Wires typically fall into the "while you are in there" category given you're likely to be doing the other stuff. If you think you are going to need caps over the next couple of years it all starts to get expensive. FWIW, I took the plunge and bought an HPX direct fire set up when I realized the cost of all the bits I was likely to need over the next couple of years.

My car has Crane electronic ignition with optical pickups, so I don't have points. The most neglected thing are the advance weights. They need to be lubed. Doesn't hurt to find a shop with an old distributor machine, so they can check the advance curve. Other than greasing the weights, the only parts replaced on mine were some oil seals during a service done recently. Of course, you'll need to check caps and rotors. Mine were OK - they seem to last a long time.

Forgot to say: last major service is about 6 years and 10k miles back. Car runs fine.

I am planning a major service on my car. Currently I am doing a list of spare parts which I will need. What should I do on the distributors (twin) and which parts will I need?
