Paul, you would have to replace the belts and the drive pulleys down by the crank as well. As far as the belt jumping during a backfire goes, I cant see how it can happen if the belt is tensioned properly. I believe that is does, just think there is an easier and cheaper solution. It sounds like the electronic ignition conversion direct or crane would take care of it alone. Making the pulley kit a waste, kind of like suspenders and a belt. |

are the rounded tooth pulleys the same as the ones that Nick's Forza sells...I am considering replacing the old fibreglass/composite pulleys with those machined aluminum pulleys...does that require using different belts? |

Paul: "...Ive heard of the 2V injected cars with an ignition concern causing a fart and a pop which can cause the belt to skip with the factory setup but how often does that happen?" It had happened to his car and this was his fix for it (plus, the Electromotive ign. system to replace the faulty Digiplex). |

I asked Ed a year ago how much the kit was and I believe it was $2400US. I might be wrong but I knew it was alot IMO. The way I look at it is if you can get 3 years and 30K miles before changing the belt, why convert? If you extend the belt change interval to 80K miles with the kit, the cam seals will most likely need to be replaced before that anyway. In that case, it doesnt prevent the 30k service in a sense. I think it would take a long long time to offset the cost of the kit and may hurt resale depending on the buyer. Ive heard of the 2V injected cars with an ignition concern causing a fart and a pop which can cause the belt to skip with the factory setup but how often does that happen? |

Ed developed the 'rounded tooth' belts for dependability/longevity. Just search for "nitrile cam belt" there are 4 or 5 threads in the archives all in the past 12-18 months. BTW, I believe this is Ed's last set. He's been trying to sell it off & on for the last year. They're made for 2V 308s that have the plastic pulleys. If you're seriously considering them, you really should take the time to research them. Some counter opinions were presented in one of the threads that you should be informed of. I am NOT intending to imply anything negative, just that anyone going to non-original parts should get as much info as possible to assist in their decision.

I'd like to speak with several people that have been running that system for quite a few miles and see pictures of it installed on their cars. |

Is switching to the rounded tooth pulleys and belts a great benefit? Is it a dependabilty or performance issue? And where is Ed Gault? I don't think he's posted in a while. |
