Also note that if you do have spark and the engine will not start it may be the "orientation" sensor on the flywheel bellhousing. This sensor tells the engine where top dead center is and if it fails(it can for NO reason)the engine can't fire the plugs "in time"

Careful checking the spark. I see warnings under the hoods of cars these days. There is more juice nowdays than there used to be. Once upon a time there were no warnings; now there are.

Just a suggestion. I attach the high tension lead to the plug. Then I use a jumper cable to ground the body of the plug. That way you don't have to hold it in your hand risking a severe shock.

The spark plug has to be grounded for it to spark. Was the body (threaded part) connected to ground or just laying out?

If there truly is no spark, the next thing to do is to check the fuse panel to see if all the fuses are good. Also, inspect the fuse panel connectors, as they are problematic on TRs and some Mondials. The ignition ECU and the coil packs must get power for the ignition to function.

If the ignition ECU is getting power, the diagnostic process gets more complicated, so post when you have more information.

I can turn the car over and I smell gas. I pulled out one of the spark plugs and with the wire attached to it I had someone turn the engine over and there was no spark. What do you think I should do next.
