My TR (and all I've seen) have had the black sculpted version:
black
but I too went to the (more modern-looking IMO) 110mm chrome version:
chrome

brian is correct. the horse is simply held in place by a couple of bolts and easy to change out.

All Testarossa's came from the factory with the flat (not "sculptured") black horse. The chrome "sculptured" horse is standard on the 512TR.

My first TR had a yellow one. That should have given me a clue to stay away. wish that was the only problem it had.

Henryk,

most had the black horse but some had the chrome...both are original. It was dependent on the color of the car. Here's a white 512TR with chrome..

My 88TR has a "black" prancing horse emblem on the back of it (in the grill area above the license plate). I have seen some with a chrome emblem......which is correct? Did some years have chrome, or are all these after market? I believe my TR to be original.Upload
