Glad to hear the sensor is now available separately.
If you have any installation questions, feel free to ask.

While the part was repairable, I did buy the new F Part (potentiometer only). Apparently it used to be available as a seat rack assembly only($1300), just as you discribe Joe. But it's now listed and shown as a separate part, $285 was my cost.

MK, you must have gotten an aggressive price from the dealer. When I got mine diagnosed from the dealer, they wanted 900 some dollars for the part (seat bottom rail assembly with power seat motor and potentiometer) plus labor. I was told that the sensor does not come separate. I was able to get just the sensor for 1/10th the cost, but had to take the seat rail assembly apart to install it. The part had to come from the UK, as FNA will only sell the forementioned assembly, not individual components.
Hope that helps

UPDATE/CONCLUSION:
I checked with the folks at the link...they wanted $895 per seat....and I do the R&R labor. That was 2X the dealers price and they'd do it all.

Turns out the Pot is reparable,although it's pretty delicate. There is a plastic slip coupling that fails insde and then the electrics don't vary with seat position and the top control computor can see that. Again repairable for zero $$.

I never searched out the Jag Pot that the dealer said he used.

I suspect that if the computor hadn't lost it's settings, you could get away with a straight swap as Joe did. But In my case the system was totally confused and disfunctional until I took it back to the dealer who took it through the "self learning" process with the SD-2 (as discribed in the shop manual). Then it all work like new. Thanks all, hope the experience helps.

Have a look at the above thread.

I was told by a UK authorised dealer that only they could reset it. Unsurprised to hear that they were talking cack, again

I replaced the sensor only, which I bought from T. Rutlands, and did not need the SD-1. Worked just fine after I replaced it.
If you do a search, I believe you will find someone that repairs the part to be better than factory.

Several questions regarding replacement;
1) someone out there is selling an upgrade on an exchange basis with the seat rail. Who?? Phone, FAX ??
2) Local dealers are apparently buying the pot from the Jaguar dealers and intermixing the orig ferrari gears to get a fresh electrical part. Any body know what Jag. part, car/ Details??
3) Dealer tels me "that only they, with there SD-1 tester" can cycle the top system and reset the seat position. Anyway around this or is it necessary at all??

Thanks all. MK
