John, I have found that switch you was talking about. Mine is connected. I do not know what it is for. A weird place to have a switch/electrical plug connector.

John, I will do my height measurments like you said. What size tires and wheels have you on the rear of your spider ?? I have 275/35/18 with 30mm spacers. I know exactly where you mean now. I must admit I have not seen any switch in that are. Saying that I will check again and let you know. ASAP. I understand the roofs are manual and not automatic. Do your windows on the doors drop slightly when you release the roof to lower it, mine do?? They do not go up when the is refixed does yours ? I do know behind the spiders rear seats in the rear bulk , if you remove the panel all the ECU's are behind. Might be on of those ECU plugs for diagnostic checks ??? Need check mine only guessing. |

Difficult area to photograph. The 348 spider convertible top forms 2 buttress shaped areas on each side of the engine cover. They taper down from both sides of the rear window to the rear. This somewhat mimics the buttress design element on the 348 tb and ts models. Sitting inside the car, looking behind the seats, you can see into the cavity formed by the top on both sides of the rear window. The switch is located in the cavity on the left(US driver's) side. Location would dictate the switch function relates to the top operation. The 348 top is manual. Reviewing the 348 spider manual I am thinking the switch may lower the windows automatically when raising the top?? Thanks for the help, John PS. Justin, I will send the height measurements for my lowered spider when I can get the Ferrari out of my garage. Hopefully spring will arrive soon. |

Due to the unusually long and messy winter here in MA I was cleaning an area of my spider not touched in 9 years. The inside base under the tunnel formed by the top buttress area. On the left(drivers) side I felt a loose wire. Wire connects to what appears to be a limit switch. The switch housing is not fastened but floating free. There is a small upright sheetmetal part with a pair of very small holes that appear to match the switch. I believe the switch mounts to this plate. 1. What is the function of this switch? 2. How does the switch mount? Small screws? Rivets? 3. Does the contact end of the switch mount up? Down? 4. What contacts the switch? Covertible top frame? Thanks, John |
