David, did you get a call from your Ferrari dealer about the fuel gauge fix? If not, you should have. It's a warranty fix and they'll replace the fuel sender unit. Had my belts done due to a tensioner going bad at about the 13K miles level. If you hear squeaking coming from the firewall, take your car back to the dealer immediately and have them check it out. It might be worse than a squeaky belt. Glad I caught it before anything bad happen on the road. |

My 2001 still has the fuel guage problem. After topping off the gas several times almost over filling, the fuel guage still reads 3/4 full. No other problems with mine. A very late 2001. Vin 126k. |

Tom, I asked the very same question a few days ago...My car has almost the identical mileage....In reality, I imagine the belts are fine (I haven't done the change)....If I were the customer, I would request that the belts be changed, or the purchase price be adjusted accordingly....FYI, the belt change on a 360 isn't too expensive (I believe it's @ 1 days work), as the engine doesn't need to pulled, and access is gained from inside the car (panel behind the seats) |

Guys, thank you very much for all your input. Now I will know what to look for. Another quick question. Beng that the car is a 2000 model, and if the inspection goes good would it be wise to replace the belts on this car? The car only has 8200km on it form new. Yes I realize the car is now 3 years old but is a belt change really necassary or can he wait 2 years. Have any of you owners had them done yet? |

Tom- Another problem not mentioned by Jason, with the belly pan removed, look at the main plug on the back of the Alternator. If it looks black/burned, it needs to be replaced, and there is an engine ground strap that needs to be updated. Campaign # 98 is the Alarm Campaign, and all that does is "hard wire" the alarm siren into the main battery, so the sirens don't keep dying. Our dealership sold 34 sirens last year alone. And most where wty. so, hence the campaign. Another is Camp.#84--which is the axle boot protection shields. Just look at the axle shafts and see if there are shields mounted between them and the exhaust. EARLY cars did not have them, for some stupid ass reason. Hope this helps. |

Tino, These are service campaigns not necessarily recalls....I can't remember them all, but a few of them were... Alarm modification....additional wiring (relates to battery disconnection) air conditioning panel update EBD warning lamp error, software update in dashboard ECU There were actually a lot more, but I had these performed quite some time ago and I can't remember them now!! The service campaigns are going to vary from car to car but they are easy to find out what has been done etc. If you provide the dealer with a VIN number, they'll send you an Excell spreadsheet with all the service campaigns relating to the car, and which ones have been completed. I actually did this for Martin Weiner one time (he has a Euro) and there were quite a few for his car aswell. Whilst my car is a Euro, I believe the US also operates the same system....When my car was in Autogallery in LA, I was told about the alarm campaign outstanding on my car....which was duly completed

Jason, What "numerous service campaigns" are you referring to ? I've had my Y2000 car for over two years and apart from an early F1 problem,, protective tape change and an inaccurate fuel gauge, I am not aware of any service campaigns and I'm quite close to my dealer. Is your 360 a US car ? |

Tom, Matt has them pretty well covered....Some 2000 models also have a fuel sender unit problem...you need to fill the tank full of gas, and check that the fuel guage reads full. I don't know whether you have access to the Ferrari computer system, but if you do, it's important to read the % clutch wear figure....Anything above 70% means the clutch is basically shot (F1 transmission) Cambelt change is due at 3yrs or 30000 miles There have also been numerous service campaigns on the car, you'll need to check that all of these have been completed

Oh boy did you open a can of worms 1. Premature clutch wear 2. check engine lights 3. airbag lights 4. spiders have had problems with the tops 5. Hit the rev limiter one to many times and the car needs a reboot. 6. moisture in the headlight covers |

I have a customer who wants to purchase a 2000 360 Modena. He wants to bring it down to the shop for a complete inspection. Since these car are relativly new and most are still under warrenty I don't see to many come in. I was just wonder if there are any problem areas on the car that I should be aware of as I'm checking over the car. Also are there any electrical issues with these cars.eg check engine lights, airbag lights etc. |
