I believe its a flowmaster for a buick grandnational that would work. 2 inlets and 2 outlets in one muffler.

Rob has a set up with a flow master and hedman hot tip resinators. It would be great if he could add his sound here to compare all 3 exhausts. I was thinking about doing Robs setup on my car. Flow masters usualy have a good sound, although I have never heard one on a ferrari, I bet it sounds the best.

I will try to answer some of the questions here the best I can - I am "technically-challenged".

1. The sounds:
A - Tubi
B - Kermit's

2. Those are not glass packs. I saw the inside while it was being put together. I will leave it to Kermit if he wants to elaborate on the construction.

3. Kermit is the tuner/master machinist who rebuild my motor. He worked with Nick Scianna of ForzaFerrari and he is based in Blaine with his own machine shop. His passion is developing "performance parts" - like BASF, "he doesn't make the cars, he makes the cars run better". ;-)

It looks like a pair of glass packs and not too difficult to make yourself. I wonder though if they should have some sort of balance pipe between banks? Unless of course the flat crank makes this hotrod trick redundant.

Are those just glass packs welded together?

FWIW - I thought A had a 'purer' sound. B seems to me to have more of an exhaust-induced sound to it.
That's a nice looking setup.

Stebro test pipes are really nice because they have a center section that is slightly enlarged to carry stainless steel wool behind a baffle. they call their test pipes "euro resonator pipes" for that reason -- a much nicer/deeper sound than straight test pipes.

I got a stebro. Cost and sound very acceptable. Fit perfect. Test pipes also available.

Hi Stewart,
I finally got through and I prefer A. B seems throatier, but IMHO, it overwhelms the motor.(ran lots of A vs B w/ headphones really loud) A sounds crisper and has less resonance. So give it up. Which is Kermit? I'm guessing B. Both sound great!

Kermit is road-testing this exhaust on my car so at this point I don't "own" it. If I like it I will buy it from him and then my Tubi will be up for sale. BTW, this is a picture of the Tubi.

I should also say, that the Kermit weights about 50% of the Tubi if weight is a concern....

I am just getting the car back today with the new "Kermit" exhaust so I need to drive it a few weeks and hear it ON THE ROAD before posting my final opinions on it. But Kermit (he is on the Chat) has flow-benched it and it performed better than the Tubi (which is what I had on the car before) and the dyno numbers confirmed that too. I also like the way it "looks".

As to buying one and the cost, I'll leave that up to Kermit. But I am quite sure it will be less than a Tubi.

Stewart,

I liked B better. It sounded "throatier" I would be interested in buying one of these mufflers if you are planning on selling it for less than a Tubi. Don

I am testing out a new exhaust. Would you guys give me an opinion as to which SOUNDS better?

Don't do this unless you have good bandwidth.

http://snurl.com/v79

A or B??

Oh, I should say, one is from a Tubi. The other is from a prototype developed locally here by Kermit with a flow bench test that performs BETTER than the Tubi. And it looks like this....
