I used the fuse for the rear defroster for hard wiring in my V1 -- it works fine. The bottom is on the fused side, and I used a spade doubler to make a spot to plug into. Kind Regards, Chris |

Jim, That's a very good point--agreed about the radar detector and other accessories recycling due to voltage drop. However, my voltmeter registers an instant drop to a no voltage condition. Even with the starter, I would expect the voltage to be at least 8 volts or so, most likely around 10. Ken, thanks for the lead for the "key-in-ignition" switched voltage... This might be something that I investigate further, if I don't have any luck tracking down a more standard source of switched voltage (where there's voltage in all key positions except OFF). |

Mike - are you certain that there in no voltage in the "Start" position, or could there be a drop in voltage during the cranking load? I do not believe that the keyed start switch disconnects any of the electrical load in the "Start" position, but many devices (for example, RADAR detector) will recycle when starting due to drop in voltage. Just a thought. Jim S. |

I'm looking for a good source of switched voltage on my 78 308. Currently, I'm using a spade connector on the fusebox, after the fuse. I was able to find a single source of voltage there that was 12V when the ignition was in the accessory or run position. I thought I was clever by doing this, as it involved no permanent modification of factory wiring. The main problem, though, is that when the ignition is in the "START" position, there is no voltage... Also, I'm concerned about accuracy of the readings at the fusebox. Anybody know of a better source? I'm sure there's one at the actual ignition?
