Can anyone out there tell me the part number of this exhaust silencer:
Is it 127942 or 128026/1? Or are these numbers the same part (after Ferrari re-numbered)? Thanks, MARK |

Mark, Tons car really sounds great on the highway when letting it go! The Tubi is the way to go when upgrading the exhaust of any V8 Ferrari IMO. Great sound, superior quality and handmade craftmanship. A good investment. If you want the best prices in Europe for Tubi go to Manu at Scuderiasystems in Surrey and negotiate... He will make you a very good price (At least he has done with me ) Con saluti cordialissimi, Jens Haller |

Hey Ben, I appraciate you phoning the number, but was not too surprised by the outcome. I have been seaching the internet for Lee’s Custom Exhaust Shop for some time, but have turned up nothing. Matt & Ton - as I am going to be in the UK on the weekend of March 14, I thought that I might go for the standard exhaust that I mentioned in my earlier posting. Sure - one day I'll upgrade to something better, but right now I have other priorities. Firstly I need to give the car a service and change the cam belt (for my own peace of mind). Secondly I need to have some minor body work done. Please don't ask - it's a sensitive issue. Suffice it to say I was not involved and am really pissed off So - I guess the most elegant and cost efficient way to get rid of my Lee's cat exhaust is to pick up the used standard item in a week's time. Tubi sounds like the way to go though. Ton, I look forward to seeing and hearing yours one day. Cheers, MARK |

Ben, I doubt there are too many Spanish guys in Florida. More likely a Cuban or Mexican. |

Mark, 50 GBP is a bargain for a good exhaust. But I would go for a steel sport exhaust. Ton |

Since I live in Florida I called the Number on your sticker. I would guess they are out of business since it was a cell phone now and some spanish guy answered |

It's easy enough to fit, so even if it only lasts a short while fifty quid is a bargain. A new one isn't cheap. And yes, you'll have no problem getting the car through a UK MOT without a cat (and it will make more power) - the MOT test is getting slightly tougher but it's not very stringent compared to other countries. Can you see a three bolt flange where each manifold joins onto the pipes? My point about having it fitted in a fabrication shop is that if it's been changed from standard, you might need flanges, brackets etc. made up to refit the standard exhaust. At the very lest, have a look before taking the old system off. |

Mark, What can I say but that's the way it goes! I have tracked down a used exhaust in the UK for sale at GBP 50. This may be an interim solution - is it a fair price? Glad to hear that the bureaucrats won't prevent my car from breathing freely! Cheers, MARK |

Mark see my post in the European section, you won't have any problem with the laws in Europe btw it's sods law but I gave away a std Euro 328 exhaust about two months ago, if only I'd known! |

Hi Matt, Thanks for the input. My car sounds beautiful by the way - certainly no worries in that department. But yes, I agree, it's not aesthetically very pleasing, and it's by no way close to standard. Having spent 17 years getting an Alfa Spider into concours condition (it's just had a 100% bottom-up re-build), I have become a bit of a stickler for detail! I am not going to be too anal about the Ferrari's exhaust (i.e. I will not insist on original parts only) but want something more standard than I have at the moment! I know very little about EU car legislation - as my car was produced without a cat and had one retro-fitted, what would the bureaucrats say if I totally removed it now? Cheers, MARK |

Mark, Personally I'd change that exhaust, it looks very wrong. What does it sound like? I quite like the exhausts made by Hayward and Scott http://www.haywardandscott.co.uk/ They're hand made, stainless, top quality and look good (sound good too) but I'd definitely get them to fit it - especially if yours has been chopped around. They're not the most expensive either. Hard to tell from the photos but it looks like yours might not be using the original mounts. Good photos on your site by the way. |

My 328 GTS has an interesting history. It is a 1986 European model, originally sold by a French dealer to buyer in Germany. After a few years he exported the car to the USA, and it spent some time in Florida. The car then returned to Germany and was bought by the second owner. He sold it to me, and the car is now registered in the UK. When the car went to the States I believe it did not have a catalytic converter. In order to comply with US legislation, the speedometer and odometer were changed from kilometers to miles and a new exhaust system was fitted, complete with cat-converter. I guess that the US exhaust was manufactured by "Lee’s Custom Exhaust Shop" in Florida as I found the following sticker on the car:
Does anyone know if Lee’s still exists as I would love to contact them to see if I can track down the installation record and to learn more about my car’s history. As you will see from the pictures below, the exhaust system is far from standard, although it works just fine, and the cat-converter is still passing emission tests (the car currently has 24,272 miles on the clock):
This is my first Ferrari and I’ve only had it for four months, so I would like some advice from the more experienced owners out there: 1. Should I be considering replacing the old exhaust system with something more contemporary? 2. If so, what exhaust system should I be buying? 3. Should I be removing the catalytic converter? 4. If so, will there be any other technical changes that I will need to make to the car? Thanks in advance guys, and apologies for the naïve questions! MARK
