Parts place for Volkswagens at 248.373.2300 had that black metric rubber hose with the braided covering by the meter. They do mail order.

I've been using inch-size hoses on most applications during my rebuild. Only problems I face now are the small heater hoses that run between the heater-cores in the front compartment. The barb fittings on the 'cores are too big for 3/8" and too small for 1/2" (must be 12mm?).

For main coolant hoses I've been using 1 1/2" ID
For main heater hose (engine to heater valve) 5/8" ID
For brake booster, 1/2" ID
For coolant tank to thermostat housing, 3/4" & 3/8" ID (delivery & breather respectively)
For fuel lines (MY car is CARBURETED, FI hose is different altogether) 1/4" & 5/16" ID

The best way for you to find out Gary is measure your hose. But shouldn't be too much different from the sizes I used.

I can't tell you about the emissions hoses because my car doesn't have it.

Your air-pump is missing its belt and should be on (or else your pump will eventually seize). Refer to your manual for size (they are made by Gates and are not expensive).

The heater hose MAY survive if the air-pump is reactivated by putting on a new belt, but may not for long (can't say what would be a good aftermarket replacement).

I have a 83 308QV and was checking the fuel accummulator and noticed the hose from the air pump was off due to old rubber. I replaced it with a 19mm heater hose. I'm not sure if I did the right thing. I also noticed the belt from the engine to the air pump does not exist. Is this normal? And, is there a link or does anyone know the size of all these hoses ( air hoses, vacuum, heater, coolant, etc.) that we are all in the process of replacing?

Thanks for the help ............ Gary
