Ron - I have followed some of these previous threads, and while many suggest that it is the motor and/or cable lubrication that is the culprit, I believe that it is the felt and alignment of the window channel that offers more opportunity for friction. It can be tested easily by simply unclamping the cable from the mechanical window regulator, and run the motor. If the cable and motor turn quickly, the problem likely stems from felt/alignment issues.

Hi Dave, there are a lot of threads about slow or nonworking windows. The concensus seems to be that you should take the motor assembly and do a real clean up and relubrication. It seems that the grease hardens up over time and impedes the "smooth" operation. Another fix has been to put the circuits on separate relays to increase the effective voltage received by the motors.

While I don't remember anyone talking specifically about the boxer it seems these problems and solutions are pretty much universal for F cars of that vintage.

You can do a search and find much more info.

Best of luck,

Ron

and need advice what is the best fix . Do I get
the motors rebuilt or find new ones - still available? Are there motors from other models I
can use. Also is this job easy to do myself or

Thanks any info is appreciated
