It's an '88 Testarossa. And no photos. Sorry Marcus. That would have been a good idea. The hot wire went to the white/green connected to the rear window defogger, and the ground went to the large screw attaching the entire upper console to the roof of the cabin. That screw is between the map light and the dome light. The wire for the radar equipment is easily run out of the front of the console by the windshield. THe white/green wire is hot only when the ignition key is on. Plus, based on it's size only (not an accurate measure sometimes), it will easily handle the load of the radar detector, jammer, and scanner. Is there anything else I need to protect myself? :-)

Ernest, any photos of your install? Sounds like a great idea to get the power from the switch. I assume it is 12 volt constant?

Great Ernest! I forgot to mention welcome to FC. What year is your TR?

Joe -

Right on the money ! Worked perfectly. While I was under there I was able to wire in my radar equipment to the white/green wire on the rear window defogger switch - made a very nice install.

THanks again.

Ernest.

Ernest,

I have a 87. This is the procedure for it.

1. Turn your master ground switch off (clockwise as you look at it) that is located in your trunk above the battery cover.
2. Pull out and disconnect the three switches (may be two with the center being blank) located in the upper console. They are very hesitant.
3. At the rear of the dome light cover, insert a small flat-tip screwdriver and gently pry the cover forward until the middle of the cover bulges downward a little on each side.
4. With both hands pull down slightly on the cover enough to unseat the two tangs holding the rear of the cover but dont pull it off yet
5. With the cover in hand slide it towards the rear of the car so that a metal flange attached to the top of the map light housing, which holds the front of the cover on, slides out.
6. The cover will now hang with only the map light wires connected.

I hope this helps, Joe

Good morning. I'm hoping someone has removed the dome light cover of their testarossa. Before I give it a go (and break it) I thought I better ask. Thanks for any advice you might have.
