EFWUN, Im not sure of what you call the color, its in all the paperwork but I cant remember. I thought it was modena blue... but it may be blue chairo. It is the original color.

I just got in on the group buy for wheels. If you contact Robert, you can still get in.

I think are only about 2 sets left on the group buy. Contact Tazio N or Robert Calisi as previously stated. Only a short time left to get in because there was a delay in the shipment.

Im in the exact same situation... There is a group buy underway on the reproduction wheels: $1,350 plus shipping, no more than $1,445 total. Search the archives and you will find the thread... email Tazio and he can still get you in. I just priced the 550 wheels from SL and they quoted me over $1,600. Also, the 550 style wheels just dont look right to me on a 308, but to each his own.

Ray at SL comp seems to have an excellent reputation, and those 550M style wheels are gorgeous.

Thanks for the input Jeff.
I think I understand bolt pattern and offset. I had a poor experience purchasing wheels at Tire Rack for my BMW 325ix. Seems the 88-91 ixs had a substantially different offset to that of the other E30 3 series cars of the same era. The guys at Tire Rack either did not know or just wanted to sell a set of wheels. Tell me more about bolts and placement positions. I have not encountered this but I have also not owned a custom /hand built car before either. Help the rookie with initials and acronymswhat does BTW stand for? Also, what is yours or anyone elses experience with purchasing wheels etc. on eBay? When I researched the car, eBay got some bad references due to unscrupulous dealers and private sellers. Seems a lot of doggy cars are passed through this auction forumfine for Toyotas and the like where you know more or less what you are getting, not so good for Ferraris. Thanks

John,
Get whatever you like the best, as long as they were designed for the 308 bolt pattern and offset. They should bolt right up. Keep in mind to use the same bolts on the same positions.
BTW there is a nice looking set of Etoile wheels on eBay. No affiliation, blah, blah.
Best of luck.

Looking to upgrade the wheels on my 79 308 GTB with QV or similar. My research indicates that Ferrari Parts Exchange, Dennis McCann, and Italian Car Parts all offer QV replicas in the 16x7 and 16x8 sizes. Several questions again beg asking. What is the overall consensus of the quality of these replicas? Reading other posts, it seems that people are either thrilled with the wheels or are sorry they ever bought them. Common complaints include vibration at speed, fitment problems etc. Second, what are peoples experiences with these particular businesses?
I also ran across a thread that brought up 550M style aluminum wheels that fit 308s. These are offered through S.L. Competition in Georgia, come in the same sizes, and cost considerably less. Any experiences with these wheels and this dealer?
Thanks for helping a rookie.
