Hi I drain my fuel tanks using the hose from LH tank to fuel pump. Clamp it shut with pliers when the gas can is full. Empty gas can into another car, fill it again. When there is nothing more coming out, then put a drain pan under the cross pipe and undo the drain there. On RH side, remove the wheel and the fender well. Undo the strap (straps if US car), disconnect more hoses and wiggle that tank out. some more fuel will always spill out. If there is any doubt about the hoses, (i.e you didn't replace them before) then replace them all. |

Beware of the drain plug! When I did my removal, I underestimated what was in the tanks and spilt about 10L of gas all over the garage floor. Good thing I don't have a natural-gas-fired water heater (in the storage area of the garage) or else I wouldn't be writing this now... Next time, I'll either get a BIG container, or just partially remove the plug so it'll trickle past the threads, but still be on to snug up once the container is full... Try to thread a plug into an opening of rushing fuel: Other than that, it takes a little bit of effort to undo the hose of the cross-over pipe. But once past that, its a breeze. No need to pull the suspension apart, it'll pop out of the wheel opening with clearance. |

It is in the archives. I know I discussed it before. You must unhook all hoses from that tank. There is a plug on the crossover pipe u can drain from. You must remove the tire and suspension from that side. You must get car in air high enough. Are you just going to drop the tank out of the way or do u want to remove it completely. U can do job by dropping it out of the way. |

Time to finally finish the AC conversion in my GTB. I feel like a moron because this has dragged on for 8 months but work has left me no time to play with the Ferrari. I need to remove the old AC lines, take them to an AC shop and have new ones made that will properly attack to the sanden compressor. I am also going to remove the headers and have them sent out for coating. I know this means the right side fuel tank must come out. Rather than do my typical moronic "just dive in" thing and then come begging for help when frustrated... I'm asking for tips on fuel tank removal up front: Whats the procedure? What must come out before the tank can be removed? Where is the best place to drain the fuel from? Should I totally remove the cross over pipe connecting the 2 fuel tanks? Will the rear suspension have to be disassembled? Im going to shoot photos of this to post so future DIY guys will have a reference. Any of you 308 experts out there who have done all this, I would REALLY appreciate being able to speak with you on the phone about how you went about it and what problems you encountered.
