don't know about the heater question, altho it sounds like the air isn't going thru the normal engine heated route.
re the sputtering; sounds like you need to check the engine mgmt of the left bank. i had this problem on the 512tr last yr when a heavy rain put some water past the seal on the connector between the engione mgmt system and the injection system. i am not a technical person, so forgive these overly simplistic explanations. you need to take it into the dealer, where they hook it up to the diagnostic computer and then follow the 'spark' all the way to thru the system till they see where it stalls.

I got a question for you guys,
Took the Testarossa out his weekend and noticed 2 thinks
1. When I turned the heat on the air coming out of the vents were cold even when I adjusted the temperature knon to heat, I still got cold air.
2. When the car is idling I noticed that the engine rev is not consistant, it's not that it revs up and down, but just not consistant. The left muffler only will kinf of sputter
