Hi Mr. Garven, I recently purchased the Snap-On aluminum-lined 7/8" (yes, I know! 22mm not available) socket for $29. Use thick "freezer" baggie over bolts then slide socket on - no markings, very happy. Socket's not inexpensive but neither are the bolts. Drop me a line if you'd like a picture.

i do them up by hand then with a torque wrench ,takes longer but better than a windygun i also rap the socket in several layers of masking tape ,to save the paint |

Are protective really necessary? As long as one avoids an impact wrench, I see no problem. Besides, unless you do ALL the wheel service yourself, ANY service garage, including Ferrari shops, will use an impact without question. |

Rob -- Do a search on "ozat" to get to a previous thread that shows links to aluminum-lined 7/8" (22mm) sockets available from Ozat and Snap-On. |

I just bought a new set of wheel bolts for my 308gt4 $$$$ and I am looking for a source for some kind of socket insert to protect the finish. Eastwood and Griots have some but they stop at 21mm Ferrari bolts are 22mm and they have a sleeve on the outside to protect the wheels. I am looking for something that would be on the inside to protect the finish of the bolts. |
