Actually if you do need the service now is the time before the crowds clog up your shop's schedule and you spend 2 weeks instead of 1 without your car. Its good insurance to a pleasant driving season.

That's right. I should consider all that. I just don't want it in the shop all spring, Ha ha.

Doc, if you are thinking 35k service when was the last time the timing belts and bearings were done? Valve adjust? Spring is here so take at look at the whole thing. If you havent had any of that done now is the time to get it sorted and enjoy the spring/summer/fall driving and show season :-)

For the plugs under the rear window, you'll find that the tools that came with your 308 (socket and pivoted wrench) really do work quite well for that.

Right... the striker. I was totally taking that out of context. I was thinking inside the door. I'll try both things if necessary. Striker, I get it now.

Hmm.. I thought the striker is the part of the door locking mechanism that's not on the door. The part attached to the body. There are 2 hex screws holding it down. Loosen, move it slightly toward the outside of the car, and tighten down.

That fixed my problem.

Thanks guys,

I'll give it a shot this weekend. Have a few things to do... Door Lock, Inspect Fuel Accumulator/Check Valve, and find an 8.0 x 16 magnesium cromodora OEM wheel for the rear. I think the previous owner left the spare on it, now I have 3-7's and 1-8" on the car and a Mickey Mouse spare. The wheel search has taken three weeks so far. Car could also use a 35K tune up, but I have no idea how to get to the plugs under the rear window.

Had the same problem, things were slightly bent inside the door. Also, the rod needed bending so it had a curve that moved smoothly inside the door panel. Took 2-3 tries to get it right.

The panel comes on & off quite easily. You do need a #1 phillips screwdriver for the tiny trim screws. BTW, they're buried in the carpeting & take a bit of searching to find the 1st time.

While you've got the panel off is an ideal time to clean & relube the power window driver.

It's very easy to get the door panel on and off of a 308QV. It's just a few small screws and also unscrew the door lock plunger.

I guess that means I have to remove the door panel? Ah, crap... It will never go back on the same. Pleaes tell me I don't have to do that. If I had my manual with me, I'd be able to answer that question for myself, but I'm at work.

Same exact thing happens in my 84. Ken, is the lock striker the same as the closing striker?

I had the same problem with the passenger door on my '83. I fixed it by adjusting the lock striker... moving it further outward.

Is there a trick to locking the door on the 1985 308 GTSi QV? I can lock it when I'm in the car by pressing down on the lock. However, when I use the key to lock the car from the outside, I hear it try, but it will not lock.
