Check heat shields around cats and on the engine cover if you have one. (My T had a buzz there that was a loose heat shield.)

I just found this forum, after having just yesterday acquired a mint Cabriolet. My question centers around a "buzzing" sound I hear when starting the car. It almost sounds like loose heat shields on the exhaust. And after raising the engine cover and taking a peek, they have a number of cracks. Is it possible to remove these shields and then as one possible way of reducing heat in the compartment-- wrapping with exhaust wrap as I have for years on racing headers?. Any advice greatly appreciated. Other than a 17" set of HRE wheels, this car is stock. Glad to have found this forum!
